Harmonic Technique: I & II

Dora Franco, B.Sc., D.O., BI-D ( www.terapia-sacrocraniana.blogspot.com ) completed the Harmonic Technique : I & II Post-Graduate Courses, both developed by Prof. Eyal Lederman, D.O., from the Centre for Professional Development in Osteopathy and Manual Therapy in the United Kingdom, and supervised by the Portuguese Federation of Osteopaths.

It consisted of practical courses to learn a new osteopathic approach that can be clinically used for treating a wide range of conditions. In the last two decades extensive research has demonstrated the importance of passive motion to the repair process in acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Harmonic Technique is characterised by passive motion, which can be applied to different areas of the body. These techniques are used to assist and direct repair processes in the body using a gentle non-painful and non-traumatic treatment approach. During the course were examined the physiological and biomechanical aspects of Harmonic Technique and the clinical application of the technique.

In particular it was studied the effects of Harmonic Technique on inflammation, fluid flow (Harmonic Pump Techniques) and adaptation. Other aspects of the technique were also discussed such as its potential neurological pain relief effects and psychological influences. Harmonic Technique is very efficient also in treating a wide range of conditions seen in clinic, such as acute disc, chronic back pain and frozen shoulder.
